better late then never... the end of the world

Patagonia! one of the biggest, badassest, and coldest stretches of virtual nothingness on earth. emphasis on the coldest. and of course we decided to break down and spend a night by ourselves in the middle of the whole thing. little did we know that subi had only water, rather than antifreeze in her. doh! trust us, a cracked engine block can be a real pain in the ass to drive with. but with the help of a few magicians... they call them mechanics down here, the subi was ready to keep moving south.. then souther and then the southest
a gaucho here with his little brained furry follows
we picked up a hitchhiker... his name is matt. he likes condiments and sharing.

southbound subi at her finest... playing in the snow and pumping out some allman brothers to get us dancing. the expression... 'sing like no one is listening and dance like no one is watching' became 'dance like only subi is watching'... one of many such dance sessions on the sides of patagonian roads those funny looking fellas are guanacos.. they are everywhere in the southern parts of patagonia and together with fox and road runners make obstacle courses on the roads.. they will jump over that fence in a second in the smoothest motion you could ever imagine for such a huge beast
a dog sledding refuge near ushuaia... over a hundred alaskan and siberians huskies live in this nice little neighborhood and when one of them talks they all have to get a word in as well... quite a symphonythe drive into ushuaia.. the southernmost city in the world was under the light of a full moon... the ride out was like this...
and this... ... and this...
the icy atlantic waters near ushuaia
that sign marks the end of the line... what a journey. thanks subia place thats beauty can really transform youwe love you subi roo
end of the world and me happy to be there

thats the straits of magellan for all you english speakers and that boat is carrying subi to tierra del fuego... the island at the end of the world

not sure where superman lived in there.. the moreno glacier. photos could never capture how fantastic this was... thundering cracks and rumbles of ice breaking and huge waves that nearly ate us caused by the huge mack truck sized chunks that calved off.. just spectacular.
a dancing and condor watching stop approaching the glacier.. it looks small there... its notwhere the glaciar meets the lake and they both meet the mountain... the moreno is not receding.. its actually coming at you right now... it grows and collects water and every few years caves and releases all the water with tsunami-like forcesuper subi tearing up the snowy lengths of the famous ruta 40 in 4wd

some frosty roads on the way back up from the end of the world led us straight into a fence at the chilean border and cost us our windshield so we were riding tommy boy-style for a good 100 km or so till we found another magician who just happened to had an extra windshield lying around. for future notice to all you road trippers out there, we recommend holding on to your windshield when driving through sub-zero temperatures. it really helps with heat retention.

some quick fixes on the side of the road. our new windshield was a couple sizes too small but, as always, duct tape came to the rescue.

some french painter and nascar driver who our buddy orlando helped create.

there is more to come... if you want to see more email aaron.schreiber@gmail.com and tell him to send me pictures!
